Australia Day: Smoking Ceremony in Adelaide

Share story. Heal. Listen to the people of wisdom. Not only today but every day. It’s about language, knowledge, culture and community. About Land and Country.

For some people who have made Australia their second home it is also about belonging and sharing.

On the morning of January 26 Australians around the country gather to acknowledge and celebrate First Nations’ culture through music, dance, language and storytelling.

This year’s Smoking Ceremony (Mourning in the Morning) that took place on Kaurna land at Elder Park/Tarntanya Wama, Adelaide was a reflective start to Australia Day and an opportunity for the community to reflect and remember that Australia’s First Nations people are the foundation of Australia’s story.
